President’s Volunteer Service Award
Last year, 97 students put in over 17,000 hours of community service helping over 75 different organizations and causes.
The President’s Volunteer Service Award is available for ALL UAHS students who complete the following number of hours between March 2, 2018 and March 1, 2019:
The Bronze Award is given for 100+ hours
The Silver Award is given for 175+ hours
The Gold Award is given for 250+ hours
This national award will be presented to qualifying students in April of 2019 at a breakfast ceremony.
Here is the process:
Go to your Family Connection page
Under Resources, clink on x2Vol
Under Groups & Goals, click on Group/Goal Search
Search for the Group called “President’s Volunteer Service Award”, click on “Join.”
Record your hours of service under “Add Hours.”
All hours you submit for ANY goals (Annual/summer service, Senior Honor Cord, etc.) will count toward this award and they do not need to be submitted twice.
Check “Opportunities” for ideas for service ideas
You will receive notification of receiving this award by April 1, 2019.
All volunteer activities are subject to the UA Rules for Community Service:
Completed without pay.
Completed for someone other than a family member.
Completed for the school, a service agency, or individuals who are incapacitated.
6th grade camp counts for 16 hours total.
Youth in the Booth does not count as community service, unless you have donated your pay and can produce a receipt.
All political activities must be non-partisan (i.e., working for the League of Women Voters or Get Out the Vote. NOT - working for a specific campaign for a candidate)
Extended service trips/camps can receive a maximum of 18 hours per day.
Religious activities count with the exceptions of teaching, preaching, or participating in religious services.
